Originally, released in July 2012 running Windows 7, a Windows 8 version of the Samsung NP900X4C-A07US laptop came out in October 2012.
This brings it up to date with the latest available operating system (OS) and this review is based on that model. Both seem to have the same hardware specs, though the Windows 7 specs show a slightly lighter weight and better battery life. At the time of writing both OS's were being offered in the Samsung NP900X4C-A07US.
Ultrabooks are premium laptops meant to pack as much performance into as compact a space as possible, squarely aimed at mobile professionals and power users. The Samsung NP900X4C-A07US achieves this easily and is as equally at home performing demanding work tasks as it is providing entertainment.

To achieve its high performance the Samsung NP900X4C-A07US laptop utilizes a 1.9 GHz Intel Core i7-3517U dual-core, ultra-low voltage processor in conjunction with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM memory. Intel's Turbo Boost Technology in this processor increases speed automatically in response to the type of tasks you are doing, and the 8GB of memory means running several programs at once won't bog things down. A 256 GB solid state drive (SSD) provides sufficient storage for files. As it has no moving parts, your data is safer and being significantly faster at reading and writing data than a conventional hard disk drive (HDD), means boot times that are up to 60% faster. Complementing this is Fast Start Technology that saves your system configuration and data to the SSD and memory so you can power back on to where you left off in no time. This laptop can also comfortably run CAD software and even current and 3D games at lower settings thanks to the Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 which has comparable performance to an entry level discrete graphics card.
Users have report being able to use the Samsung NP900X4C-A07US comfortably even in bright sunshine as a result of the SuperBright Plus display HD+ technology making it twice as bright as a standard screen and letting you see vivid color and images even in direct sunlight. The 15 inch (1,600 x 900 resolution) matte screen is crisp with good viewing angles other than in movie mode which shouldn't be a major problem unless you want to watch videos in a group, which is probably not practical on this size screen anyway. If you want to do this then this ultrabook has Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) capability so you can connect it to your HDTV wirelessly. You will need to buy an adapter for WiDi (such as the Netgear Push2TV PTV2000) and attach it to your TV and complete some simple steps, but once it's setup you can share the screen to your TV at the push of a button.
The polished aluminium, uni-body chassis of the Samsung NP900X4C-A07US is simple yet has the look and feel you'd expect in a premium laptop. A high-quality finish with attention to detail, which while sophisticated is up to the rigors of mobile use. 14 inches wide by 9.3 inches deep, with an edge that is just over 9/16 inches high and weighing in at 3.63 pounds, it easy to slip in and out of a briefcase or backpack and carry around on a daily basis without overdue strain. With more than 7 hours battery life under normal use, you can get through most of the day without a recharge and if you tweak the power settings you could probably get through the whole day.

Overall the Samsung NP900X4C-A07US stacks up as one of the best ultrabooks currently available, combining elegant form, great display, excellent performance and all the features power users or mobile professionals could need at competitive price.
